Danbro Distributors Delivery Service – An Update

In March of 2023, we announced that Danbro Distributors had initiated our own delivery service to supplement the services of the common carriers we had employed up to that point.  We still use common carriers in some situations but have made the choice to increase and improve our delivery service as part of our overall commitment to our operating philosophy: Danbro Delivers… Products, Service, & Support. Danbro distributes top of the line products (IDEAL GROUP) and provides solid service and support for those who do business with us.  We know if our customers succeed, we succeed, so we provide any help we can to effect a favorable outcome on any project screwing our steel into the ground.  We have been in the helical business for over 25 years and have cultivated a well-earned reputation for pre-construction consultation/advice and in-field support.

The impetus for this new service arose from our experience during the pandemic when every industry was experiencing shortages of material, man-power, and other disruptions.  The shipping industry, including the LTL (less than truck load) segment, was not spared and, in addition to the aforementioned problems, fuel surcharges were imposed to deal with the volatility of fossil fuel costs.  Now, Danbro has furthered our commitment to improved delivery service by purchasing new equipment. We have purchased a new Ford flatbed (F-650) for larger loads and a Heavy-Duty Chevy pick-up for smaller loads, including emergency shortfalls, and equipment sales or rentals.  Danny Moresi, our delivery specialist, epitomizes the “Danbro Difference” by going the extra mile to mitigate the pitfalls of steel delivery.

Danny joined us about three years ago and took over deliveries from Rocky.  He quickly endeared himself to busy installers by tailoring his deliveries to the customer and their circumstances.  Progress reports and updated ETAs are standard.  Most deliveries are to job sites, and he will offload the material himself if a forklift is available and the installer is absent or busy working.  One of our customers, Persi Contracting, has him deliver to their yard during off hours and provides a forklift for offloading.  Danny recently used the pick-up truck for a return for a busy contractor in Kingsport, NY; their Foreman summarized the sentiments of customers for our delivery service: “We love you guys.”

Danbro President Frank D’ Angelo observed: “As a business, you’re always trying to control your cost of doing business while maintaining high standards of customer service.  Our new designated delivery service benefits our installers from both a cost and installation perspective.”

We help our installers strategize to win projects and assist them on site, if needed.  IDEAL Foundation Products are second to none and now we are improving our support with customer-friendly, in-house, expedited deliveries.

Melanie LaBletta, office manager and shipping coordinator, said that Danbro will continue to use LTL, but now has the luxury of picking and choosing our spots. “Distance, timeframe, and destination all play into the shipping equation,” said Melanie. “A straightforward delivery to a contractor’s yard versus a more remote site like a walkway project can dictate which way we go,” she concluded.

Frank D’Angelo summarized the overall rationale for the investment in the new trucks, stating, “Construction is a tough business.  Anything we can do to make life easier for our installers is worth it.  If our customers succeed, we succeed, pure and simple.”
