Salisbury Water Treatment Plant

This municipality’s Water Treatment Plant had been constructed on unstable soils and a couple of buildings had experienced settlement over time. The Park Plant was constructed in 1926 and its architecture is protected under a historical trust so extra care was required while underpinning the structures, so Helicals were specified.

Project Summary:

  • Helical Pile Type: IDEAL 3.5″ Pipe Piles (.300 wall) True Force UP Bracket 10″ 12″ 14″ 7′ lead with 14″ extension trailer
  • # of Helical Piles: 28
  • Location: Salisbury, MD
  • Installation Depth: 55′ – 60′
  • Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 45 Kips Design / 90-kip Ultimate
  • Challenge/Unique Aspect: The facility needed to remain fully operational during the construction process. Helical underpinning is a low impact non-intrusive system which allowed daily operations to proceed unimpeded while eliminating any concerns from vibration which could compromise the structural integrity of the historically significant structures.
  • Danbro Installer: Avon Corporation
