Replacement Bulkhead (wood to Vynil) required tiebacks. Working from a barge, the installer had to install at a 35 degree angle to avoid the sewer lines that paralleled the bulkhead and deal with adverse weather and site issues.
Project Summary:
- Helical Pile Type: IDEAL SS 150 Square Shaft
- # of Helical Piles: 88
- Location: Lacey Township, NJ
- Installation Depth: 17′ to 22′
- Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 8″10″12″- 7′ Leads / 10 Ton Ultimate
- Equipment Used: Link Belt 145 Excavator
- Challenge/Unique Aspect: In addition to the steep angle dictated by the sewer lines, abandoned electric wires, old tie rods and other obstructions were encountered during the installation. The higher torque values of IDEAL’s SS150 square shaft help the contractor to push on through the obstructions and complete the project which were furthered hampered by weather delays.
- Danbro Installer: EZ Docks
- Engineer/Architect: Alaimo Group
