An older row home in South Philly had sunk 8″ due to a cracked sewer line. The repair design called for two piles starting outside the foundation wall tieing back inside with a grade beam. The remaining piles were installed inside the basement under the partywall.

Project Summary:

  • Helical Pile Type: Transition Pile – 1 3/4″ Square Shaft to 3.5″ Pipe extensions
  • # of Helical Piles: 16
  • Location: Philadelphia, PA
  • Installation Depth: 25′
  • Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 8″ 10″ 12″ 1-3/4″ Square Shaft Lead Transition to 3.5″ pipe
  • Equipment Used: Skid Steer With 9′ extendable Boom
  • Challenge/Unique Aspect: Access was the main issue on this project. The back wall of the home was removed to provide access to the basement and the failing partywall. This only provided limited access so a specially designed boom with a nine foot reach was required to access the streetside of the basement at the other end of the basement.
  • Danbro Installer: Vaspoli Builders
