The Cape May Police Department had outgrown their current space and needed to build a new facility. The crowded, popular tourist destination forced the city to build on a previously developed, long demolished settlement on the west side of town bordering wetlands. Helicals were selected to deal with varying soil conditions, contamination, old subsurface obstructions. Helical piers avoided the need for over excavation and the possible implications from DEP regulations that could has arisen from other deep foundation systems.
Project Summary:
- Helical Pile Type: 3.5″ Pipe Piles .300 Wall / 12″ 14″Lead
- # of Helical Piles: 105

- Installation Depth: 15′ to 37′
- Helix Plates/Ultimate Pile Capacity: 17,000 Ft. Lbs Torque
- Equipment Used: 308 Caterpillar
