Kearny, NJ – CHANCE® helical piles kept this radio station in business and on the air after sustaining damage from Hurricane Sandy!
Radio Station WMCA’s Hackensack River catwalk needed to be removed and replaced and the ATU units needed to be raised above the new floodplain. Due to the water, the installation equipment had to be supported on a pin barge. During the winter, the water was frozen with varying degrees of tidal influence. Numerous old tree stumps were also encountered. The project was completed on time and on budget!
CHANCE® Helical Solution:
- 264 Round Shaft Helical Piles were installed vertically to support the catwalk
- 131 Square Shaft Helical Piles were used as battered piles
- 18 Helical Pulldown® Micropiles were installed to support the ATU units
- 20 Round Shaft Helical Piles were installed to connect the new catwalk to the raised ATUs
