In Connecticut, there are approximately 200 track miles of mainline overhead power-lines juicing the trains.

 For 20+ years, the Office of Rail has undertaken the monumental task of complete replacement, while still operating the nation’s busiest commuter rail service.¹

Superstructure Replacement and Substructure Rehabilitation

The challenges set forth to tieback the temporary soldier piling and lagging retention system proved to be cost effective and time efficient.  The helical anchors were installed at skewed angles with careful precision to avoid the existing stone abutment.  At all times during construction two tracks were in operation out of the four track bridge.
